Interviews with Successful People

The pseudonym Kalven was borne out of my full name Kalyanam Venkatesh. It is a tribute to my Dad who till today plays a very important part in my life. In my personal life and work circle I am known as Venka. So that aside let me share a little bit about myself.

I was born in a family with 4 children, with me being the third. My dad ran a small-and-medium enterprise in the 1960s and 70s till his early demise in 1980 at the age of 50, due to a stroke. My eldest sibling was only 16 then. My mum, with help from her siblings, managed to bring us up. Over the years we grew up as a close-knit family, always there for one another, truly loving each other.

Although we grew up together in the same environment, the four of us took very different paths in life, and all of us became very successful. My mum is living testimony to that. She truly embodies simplicity and true love, and that is the success that she has in life.

I was the only one who chose not the beaten path, but to start something on my own. I started my business straight out of school, just like my dad did in his time. I still remember my dad telling me over the breakfast table one morning to go get a basic degree before I started my own business. I was just 11 years old then. I wanted to be like him, so I took a basic degree and never went back to school after that.

You see, the little things in our childhood shape our futures. I grew up reading books, listening to audios, and watching videos of successful people and learning how they think. My financial advisory business allowed me to meet many such people, and I could see in real life who these people are, and
what they’re made of.

I have learned so much from all of them. While this book alone cannot encapsulate everything I have learned over the years, I hope to share with you some of this knowledge I’ve gained.

While I still have a ways to go, I must say that I am deeply grateful for what GOD has provided for my family and me, and the opportunities and capability to help my friends and the community. Helping others has become one of my primary motivations in life. And I hope that through this book, I have helped you on your journey to success.
